Architecture Graduate Student is Miss Emerald City 2008
RENTON, WA. – November 15, 2007 – Allison K. Rone, 23, of
Tacoma was recently crowned Miss Seattle 2008 at the 2008 Miss
Seattle/Miss Emerald City Pageant at the Ikea Performing Arts Center
in Renton. Selected as Miss Emerald City was Ada Rose Williams,
23, of Bellevue. Both young women were awarded $750 scholarships and
will represent the Greater Seattle area at the 2008 Miss Washington
Pageant in Tacoma.
Allison Rone is a 2002 graduate of Bellarmine Preparatory
School in Tacoma where she was Valedictorian. She graduated magna cum
laude with a B.A. in Economics from Harvard College in 2006. She is
currently a second-year law student at Harvard Law School and expects
to earn her J.D. in 2009.
In the talent competition, Allison performed a vocal, Take Me Or
Leave Me from the musical, Rent. Her platform issue is Environmental
Awareness and Conservation. Allison held the title of Miss Emerald
City 2007 and placed in the Top Ten and won the Interview Award at the
2007 Miss Washington Pageant.
Ada Rose Williams is a 2002 graduate of Bellevue High
School. She is a 2006 graduate of the University of Washington with a
B.A. in Architectural Studies and a minor in Music. She is currently a
graduate student in the Masters of Architecture Program at the Frank
Lloyd Wright School of Architecture in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Ada Rose performed a classical flute piece – Allegretto – by
Benjamin Goddard in the talent competition. Her platform issue is
Developing an Environmental Awareness in Children to Build a
Sustainable Future. Ada Rose was Second Runner-up to Miss Seattle
2005, to Miss Seattle 2006, and to Miss Seafair 2005. This was her
third time competing in the local Miss America preliminary.
The First Runner-up and the recipient of a $350 scholarship was
Charlotte Brianne Smith, 20, of Kennewick. A 2005 graduate of
Southridge High School, Charlotte is a junior Music Education major at
Western Washington University. Charlotte was Miss Tri-Cities 2007 and
Third Runner-up at the 2007 Miss Washington Pageant. Her talent was a
classical violin rendition of Concerto No. 3 in G Minor Op. 12 1st
Movement by Friedrich Seitz, and her platform issue is Building
Families Through Adoption.
The Second Runner-up and the recipient of a $150 scholarship was
Elizabeth Lamb-Ferro, 22, of Spokane, a 2003 graduate of Mead High
School in Mead, Washington, and a 2007 cum laude graduate of Pacific
Lutheran University with a B.A. in English. She performed a classical
piano piece – Toccata by Aram Katchaturian. Elizabeth was Miss Spokane
2005 and Third Runner-up to Miss Washington 2005, and also served as
Miss Spokane 2007 and was a Semi-Finalist at the 2007 Miss Washington
Pageant. Her platform is The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life:
Funding Beyond the Cure.
